What is Clawback?
Reversing a commission already credited when the underlying sale is later refunded or voided.
A clawback (or chargeback) takes back a commission after the fact — the sale it was paid on refunded, cancelled or turned out to be fraud. Without it, brands would pay out on revenue they didn't keep, and fraudsters could refund after collecting the commission.
Networks handle this with holding periods and reversal postbacks; the timing is a common source of friction between brands and affiliates.
On PayTandem a refund postback reverses the exact conversion by its ID — idempotently, so a double-reversal can't happen — and recurring commissions stop the moment a subscription churns.
